Works great and long lasting

I've had this particular brand now for about 10-12 yrs. Just this one pair. They were bought when I worked with Railroad Maintenance and have used them ever since. Good construction and last a long time, yes some rust builds up over not using them but WD40 takes care of that. I've even got my mother into using this brand and she likes them. Only downfall is that you need to take off before walking on tile floor, no traction and gets very slick. Now they are only used when working outdoors around the house and walking the dog.

Amazing product

I was given Appear for one of the mines I used to work for And with the extremely varying terrain that came with a open pit mine site especially in icy or deep snow conditions they worked amazing and saved me from busting my butt multiple times

Ideal

Have use these for years. I do a combination for city and light or medium trail use. Great on icy trails. Ditto on snowy trails. They work fine on pavement, at least for short or medium stretches.

Yak Traxx Chains

I have had the Yak Traxx Chains in my hiking gear arsenal for 2-3 years. They are my first choice once the trails begin to get slick, in the Fall. They do a good job on light snow or greasy mud. They do not have spikes, but are made with square link chains which give a step up in traction compared to your standard hiking or trail shoe. Without spikes, they are more comfortable and you are less likely to want to take them on/off all the time due to changes in trail conditions -- spiked devices can become uncomfortable with lighter weight shoes over time, if you leave them on long term. They are a good choice for many conditions, but are lacking if you are going to hit steep grades on ice. These are best suited for flat/level trails or city use.
