Yaktrax Diamond Grip provides aggressive traction for all winter walking conditions, from boilerplate ice to backcountry snow and everything in between. Made of case-hardened steel alloy and strung on steel aircraft cable, the patented Diamond Beads have biting edges that grip in all directions. The bead assemblies are riveted to a tough rubber sling which remains elastic in sub-zero temperatures. Diamond Grips are also self-clearing, so there is no snow or ice buildup.

Lifesavers - They’ve Never Let Me Down!

I looked up this product page so that I could copy the hyperlink and send it to a friend as a recommendation, and was shocked to see all the bad reviews! I’ve had the same pair for four years, and they’ve never let me down or given me any trouble whatsoever. They give me great traction even on hard, slick ice, and I have had no trouble leaving them on while transitioning from ice to cleared sidewalks. Besides basically, living on my dog, walking shoes, all winter, I have used them while hiking rocky terrain, putting in long hours on an icy gravel lot, and even some light logging work. I don’t try to abuse them, but I’m not babying them either!

I’ve been using and loving YakTrax for more years than I can remember. I started with the “Walk” model, but they got absolutely shredded when wearing them on a winter hike in rocky terrain. I upgraded to these and a pair of a chain models, and they’ve been fantastically durable. I think the chains would be slightly more durable in the long run, but these gave really good traction on slick ice. I will note that I am always sure to oil the metal components before putting them away at the end of the season to help prevent rust, and I have seen no signs of rust trouble in four years of ownership.

Your mileage may vary, but mine have been fantastic!

great experience

I work maintenance in northern MN. I have had 3 pair of these devices. They seem to last about 2 years before the rubber gives out. I have never had the experience of the cable breaking.

Problem

I have a pair of Diamond Grip Tractions. After a Montana winter season of trail dog walking (I’m 77, female, the dog 5), the steel cable broke and doesn’t look easy to repair. The chain Yak Traks are still working fine.

I don’t plan to get the cable ones again, only the chain version.

Of course after a year, I don’t have any receipts, so it’s a defunct pair of ice grippers.

Work Great

This is the 3rd winter I've used them for hiking on the mountain trails that are packed snow or have sections of ice; they have fantastic traction and fit around my boots easily. The only pavement I touch is the short jaunt over the parking lot to get to the trail. Nothing has broken.
